I was sorry to learn of Don's death. Don was a friend, scholar, educator and colleague in the reserves. He introduced forensic medicine to King County and elevated it to a high standard that was palpable throughout Washington State. For years we shared Seahawk tickets and had many a delightful conversation about them and Notre Dame. He was an excellent commander and patriot. Our deepest condolences to Judy and family.

My condolences go out to Don's family and friends. Don was the best thing that ever happened to King County and his profession. He developed one of the most reputable Medical Examiners Office's in the nation. His contribution during the two most notorious King County cases of serial homicide laid the foundation for the successful conclusion of both cases more than any other aspect of those investigations.I feel honored to have known him.

Dear Judy and Family,
It was with profound sadness that we received the news of Don's passing. He was a mentor, a colleague, and a friend. He taught many the skills of the forensic pathologist emphasizing the need to maintain high standards and to strive for excellence. He was always willing to share his expertise. He positively touched the lives of thousands of people and through his trainees tens of thousands of people. He will be well remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss.

Don was a wonderful colleague who freely shared his expertise with those of us who consulted him. He was always kind and generous. He set a high bar for those of us who continue to practice forensic pathology.

Judy:
Dorianne and I would like to send you our thoughts and prayers. Both you and Don served as our mentors and models during our early career in Milwaukee. Don was always available to help with difficult cases and gave constant encouragement. We will miss his familiar voice, friendship and guidance. May God's Blessings be a constant source of comfort and conformation of His love for you and your family.

Dear Judy and family,
Working for Don was instrumental in all of my subsequent work. He was a great humanist and great boss as well as a great pathologist. We met in Alaska discussing literature and our shared love of written word was a lasting bond. One Christmas we each bought the same gift—a collection of Flannery O’Connor’s short stories. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I will be making a donation to ‘Philly Abundance’ my local food bank.
